Why are we going there?
All the members in our missionary group are originally from a Slavic background. God brought us to America, land of the free, where we’re very blessed with many wonderful opportunities so in return we want to help those who are less fortunate than us. We want to be a light for the nations just like God told us to be and since we understand the language, Ukrainian and Russian, we’re going to start with the nation that we came from. We are going to Ukraine to serve the people there both physically and emotionally. We want to share with them the love of Jesus Christ and bring the Gospel and the light of God to them.
What are we going to do there?
We will start off our ministry in Ukraine by getting to know the community and developing relationships with the people who live there. We will serve them physically by doing things such as – gardening, chopping wood, cleaning houses, repair work, remodeling, painting, cleaning the streets, and food packages. In nations that are poorer than America, things tend to get a little run down after a while. We’re going to see the needs that the village has, and do our best to try to fulfill them. We will have activities for them, such as – sports, teen ministry, Sunday school and other kid activities, tea parties, picnics, skits, plays, evangelism, and church gatherings. We also want to just spend time with the people there, visit the sick and elderly, and just lend a listening ear to what’s going on in their lives. We want to selflessly serve others just like Jesus served us and be used by God to touch the lives of the people around us.
Main purpose of the trip?
To bring people to Christ and share with them the good news of salvation. “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” – John 3:16. We believe that if our time there brings at least one person to Christ, it will be worth it all. The angels rejoice when one person is saved, and so shall we. If God desires to open up the hearts of even more people in the village, we would joyfully welcome that as well. Let everything we do bring all honor and glory to him. Amen.
